Spring 2026 Honors News and Updates
Welcome back for spring!
Welcome, and welcome back, everyone! The Compass will return soon—filled with updates and opportunities to connect at and outside of SF—but in the meantime the beginning of the spring comes with some important and exciting updates.:
Important Dates
This week is all about learning how things are going to go. Between syllabus reviews, learning how long a commute takes, and your experiences in class, it’s completely natural that you may want to change your schedule. You can add and drop classes through eSantaFe, but pay attention to the dates below:
January 7 (Today): First day of classes for Spring and Spring A
January 14: Last day to ADD or DROP classes with no record and receive a refund for Spring & Spring A
January 15: Fees due for Spring & Spring A - Unpaid fees will result in being dropped from classes.
Honors Contracts: Earn Points Through Enhanced Academic Engagement
10 Honors Points per credit hour for successfully completing contract.
Interested in taking a regular course to the next level? With an Honors Contract, you can earn 10 Honors Points per credit hour by completing additional coursework that demonstrates deeper engagement with your subject. Contracts are established in collaboration with a professor and typically involve extra assignments, higher standards of participation, and engagement with additional material beyond the regular syllabus.
Key Requirements:
Attend one of our required information sessions (linked below).
Collaborate with your instructor to build a Contract Proposal.
Submit your Honors Contract Proposal Form no later than the end of Week 3.
Complete all contract expectations and earn a B or higher in the course to receive points.
Mandatory Info Sessions for Contract Students:
Anyone proposing an Honors Contract must attend one of the following Contract Overview Sessions located in S-328 or via Zoom:
Preserve your Honors Status - Register for Spring 2026 Honors Classes
If you haven’t gotten a chance to sign up for Honors classes for the spring, we want to remind you that membership in the Honors Program requires that you earn at least 30 Honors Points per semester, and that 3 credits of Honors coursework is the most straightforward way that you can earn your needed points. Luckily, although classes are filling up, there is still space available. To sign up now, just complete a registration request.
Check eSantaFe for Registration Holds
Before you register, be sure to check your eSantaFe account for registration holds. Holds, such as the requirement to complete a registration agreement or meet with an advisor, will result in you being ineligible to register for courses and significantly delay processing.
Advising Resources:
Many of you are making decisions about whether to keep, add, or drop classes right now, and a huge part of that process is understanding what you need for your degree at SF, what transfer requirements you need to plan for, and what you may need for pre-professional coursework. Luckily, SF has some excellent resources to help you out!
Advising in the Academic Advisement Center
Professional advisors in the Academic Advisement Center can help you select your classes, understand your degree requirements, and plan your academic track toward graduation and beyond! You can find your advisor in the AAC in R-201 or visit https://sfcollege.edu/advisement for more information.
Advising at Your Anticipated Transfer School
Often, the best resource for understanding which classes to take as you plan for transfer is an advisor at the school you plan to attend. They can give you the best and most up-to-date information about transfer requirements, program prerequisites, and preparing for transfer. If you plan to attend UF, take a look at the schedule below for information on when UF advisors will be at the UF@SF Center.
Honors Office Hours:
This semester, we’ve got even more ways to connect with you and support you on your Honors journey. You can come meet with my during my office hours (Monday and Wednesday from 9am to 11am), but Navigators are going to be available to support you in finding success in the Honors Program, building a plan to earn your points, and charting your way through the semester. Navigators will be available for appointments and drop-ins, both in the office and virtually. We’ll have Navigator office hours posted soon so you know when to swing by.
First-Year Credit Options - Library Sciences and Stress Management
You already know that, as a first-year Honors student, you have to take one of a few one-credit courses in in your first-year. The Honors Foundations Seminar is full, but if you haven’t taken care of this already, you can still sign up for one of the following classes in eSantaFe to take care of the requirement.
LIS1002 (Library Online Resources)
LIS2004 (Internet Research)
SLS1223 (Stress Management)
