Join us for the 52nd annual Model U.S. Senate at Stetson University, running from March 21st-23rd, 2024. Model US Senate is a chance to walk in the shoes of a U.S. Senator, fine-tune your political acumen, and possibly return home with prestigious awards as our past participants have. Don't miss out on this opportunity to shine on the Senate floor and connect with fellow student senators. Are you ready to represent Santa Fe College and make your mark? Express your interest early to secure your spot and embark on a journey of learning, leadership, and legislative success!

The Model Senate attempts to simulate as accurately as possible what goes on in the real United States Senate.  Each student senator is assigned to portray an actual current U.S. Senator (students get to name their preferences, but there’s no guarantee of getting to be your favorite senator).  Student senators get to introduce and craft legislation, to participate in committee meetings and committee hearings, to attend party caucus meetings, to do real wheeling and dealing and compromising, and to speak on the Senate floor.  There are also times set aside to socialize, and the event closes with an awards banquet on the final evening. Students who take part in Model Senate 2024 earn Honors Points for involvement in a College academic team and have the opportunity to earn independent-study credit for their role. All expenses for Model Senate 2024 will be paid for by Santa Fe College.
