Hurricane Helene Relief for Inglis and Yankeetown
1 Honors Point per Hour of Service
Join us in lending a helping hand to the elderly residents of Inglis and Yankeetown as we assist them in cleaning up after Hurricane Helene. We’ll be helping to remove damaged appliances, furniture, home goods, and belongings, ensuring they can safely place items on the curb for pickup.
Date: Friday, October 4, 2024 through Sunday October 13, 2024
Time: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Dress Code:
Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing.
Sturdy closed-toe shoes are required.
Consider wearing gloves for safety, and bring any personal protective gear you may need.
Requirements:
Volunteers must be able to lift large items safely and assist with heavy lifting.

Little School Fall Festival Sign-Up
1 Honors point per hour of service
The Little School Fall Festival will be held on October 25th. There are sign-ups for set up, activity supervision, and clean up. You may sign up in all three areas if you wish. If you can only volunteer for a short time, please include the time you will be there next to your name. Please type your first and last name in the areas you are willing to help with. All activities will be explained and demonstrated to each volunteer. Also, teachers will be close by to help if needed.
Time: 2:00-6:00pm
There will also be activity tables set up for children and their families along with light snacks. Set up would start at 2:00pm and clean up would only take about 30 minutes, we have a lot of parents who help as well.
Investment Club
5 points for club membership
The goal of this club is to educate members on effective investment practices. They will achieve this with several activities that range from covering some of the basic investment principles that everyone should know to inviting experienced guest speakers to their meetings. It is important to note that the club welcomes anyone interested in this topic, regardless of your major, and whether or not you've had previous experience.

Planetarium: Music 360 – 50th Anniversary – Pink Floyd: Dark Side Of The Moon

About: Pink Floyd’s iconic album ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’, originally released in March 1973, turned 50, and what more fitting a place to celebrate it and experience it than in a Planetarium, through the music set to visuals. With the help of modern technology, the idea of a show combining breath-taking views of the solar system and beyond, played out to 42 minutes of The Dark Side Of The Moon in surround sound, has been embraced by the band. NSC Creative have led the visual production efforts, working closely with Pink Floyd’s long time creative collaborator Aubrey Powell from Hipgnosis.
This show has a limited run, so catch it while you can!

About: Join James Albury, host of “The Sky Above Us” and former co-host of the PBS TV Show “Star Gazers” as he takes you on a personally guided tour of our night sky, using our GOTO Chronos Space Simulator. Florida Skies is our weekly star show that familiarizes you with some of the popular constellations visible from sunset to sunrise and the stories behind them. They will also show you how and where in the sky you can find the brightest planets.

Gainesville Fire Rescue Spring 2025 Internship Application
30 Honors points per semester
Spring 2025 Intern Applications are now open. Interns are not required to commit one full day per week and for that day to be consistent throughout the semester. A full day in our program is from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. This spring we will be accepting eight to twelve interns.
A typical day looks like:
9:00- 9:30: Arrive, weekly education topic or field trip, and team meeting to cover the patient visits for the day
9:30- 12:00: Team 1 goes out on morning patient visits while Team 2 works on resource pairing for our patients
12:00- 12:30: Lunch (often people bring their lunch and we eat as a team)
12:30- 3:30: Team 2 goes on patient visits while Team 1 does resource pairing
3:30- 4:00: Wrap up for the day

Applications will close on Monday, October 21st.
Interviews will be held the week of October 29th– 31st.
Notifications will be emailed out by November 8th.
Orientation will be via Zoom and offered on Monday, January 13th, and Tuesday, January 14th.

Summer Internship will conclude the week of April 21st.

Are you an author thinking about publishing a book with a university press? Are you a subject-matter expert who has been asked to provide a peer review for a scholarly book publisher?
In this panel, acquisitions editors at the University Press of Florida will discuss the peer review process for both general interest and scholarly books from the perspective of the author and the peer reviewer. Looking at the questions that are typically asked during peer review, the editors describe the type of feedback they hope to receive from reviewers. Prospective authors will learn what the peer review process looks like, including how editors select peer reviewers, the timeline for peer review, and what they can expect from the reviews. Acquiring editors will explain how they approach these peer reviews and use them to offer guidance to authors in developing their manuscripts. Emphasizing the critical role of peer review in scholarly publishing, the editors will discuss the ethics and best practices of peer review as well as current challenges.

GRAM aims to prevent pain and alleviate suffering by providing free, quality healthcare to those in need. Outside clinics, GRAM volunteers also have various opportunities to be involved within our organization.
